Hello! My name is Kelli Truman.  I teach the second and third grade combination class here at Sandburg.  I graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver where I earned my BA in Behavioral Science and my Elementary Teaching License.

It's often that I am asked, "What do you do?" and to answer that question I say, "I am a mother to my son, a teacher, a lifelong student, and a friend to those close to me."  When I am not spending time with my son I enjoy reading, gardening, and running.  I try to find good in every aspect of my life and I find rewards in the small things.

Life is a hands on experience, and we as teachers need to teach our students how to become a functioning part of society.  To accomplish this, I will provide an environment which encourages exploration, individualization, cooperative learning, problem-solving, and open-minded thinking.  Children have the ability to learn, it is my responsibility to not place limits on my students, but rather challenge them to become successful.
