 Welcome to Miss Truman's Classroom

Welcome!  Second and third grade is a time for personal growth and moving towards independence. This year your child will work towards building long-lasting friendships, becoming role models, and learning the importance of responsibility. Throughout the year your child will work independently, with partners, and in small groups to enhance their learning potential.

The 2/3 class has a very exciting year ahead of them. We will begin the year by taking an in-depth look at different communites around the world. As we do this, I will stress how classrooms are communities and how important it is that everyone works together.

You can expect to find homework assignments, spelling lists, upcoming events, and student work on this class website.

You are invited to our Author’s Tea on May 15! Our students will be sharing a special piece of writing they have worked very hard on. During our Author’s Tea we will be sitting outside in small groups, so please dress for the weather. After the authors share, we will return to the classroom for snacks and a special surprise. We hope you can make it!

Your child is learning what it takes to be a naturalist.  This week we have been meeting with an author who writes books about nature.  The class had a great time trying to build a bird nest that they could pick up without it falling apart...they discovered, they should probably leave this to the birds!

Next week they will be going on a nature walk and observing all of the beauty sights nature has to offer.

Author's Tea on May 15

There will no longer be spelling tests.

  • Wow!  I think I can officially say, "We are in the homestretch"  This as been an incredible year and I am still in denial that it is almost over.  We have some big events coming up in the next two weeks.  Mark your calendars for May 15, our Author's Tea, and  how can we forget Field Day?  This year the theme is Transformers.  Start getting prepared for backpacks full of school "stuff."  At this time of year, teachers really try to clear out their rooms, unfortunately, this means bare walls.
