The 5th grade science curriculum includes human body systems (circulatory, respiratory, digestive, and nervous).  We also cover astronomy including the phases of the moon and the outer solar system.  Additionally, we teach concepts about electricity and magnetism. 

• Our first science unit will cover the human body systems.  Instruction will include videos, textbook reading, internet activities, and direct instruction.  During our body systems unit we will be dissecting a cow's eye as well as a lambs heart.  We will also be working in the library with Mrs. Tejan to complete a research paper covering one of the body systems mentioned above.  Each system should take approximately 2-3 weeks to teach and explore.  The students will have a test at the end of each body system unit.  Please check back to this site to view a rubric showing what the students will need to know for each test. 

We will finish the human body systems unit sometime in late November or early December.  We will pick up after the new year with astronomy.
