Second grade has been studying pioneers and the early history of the Littleton area. Mrs. Egan, Mrs. Harmon, and Mrs. Walter’s classes finished off the study with a field trip to Littleton Historical Museum. Children were able to see how different life would have been had they traveled to Colorado more than 100 years ago. We saw a farm house from the 1860’s as well as a one-room school house and a farm and barn from the 1890’s. The students enjoyed seeing a woman making yarn, a blacksmith, and many animals such as new-born lambs, sheep, chickens, donkeys, and cows. There is no better way to contrast the work-intensive lives of the pioneers with our modern comforts and conveniences than with a trip to the local museum.
