Welcome to Carl Sandburg PTO  Welcome to Carl Sandburg PTO Minimize
Welcome to your Sandburg PTO!
The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Sandburg is a vital and vibrant community. Sandburg is the school it is today because of the long standing history of collaboration between parents and the staff, consistent financial support, and hours and hours of volunteering.
For the 2007-2008 the PTO has strived to set attainable goals and continue to foster the relationships between our parents and staff and our important volunteer community. Financially, we have set a goal to raise $100,000! It is a large goal, but one we feel our community can achieve. Not only have we set the goal but we have chosen to reach this goal while reducing the number of fundraisers we have from 14 to 4. The fundraising opportunities include the Kids at the Heart of Sandburg pledge drive, our annual gift wrap sale, the library bookfair and finally the Kids at the Heart of Sandburg auction.
There are so many needs in a school of excellence such as Sandburg. The PTO works hard to raise funds to support programs like our library that is available to the students and teachers every day. Every student at Sandburg is unique and special to our PTO and staff and therefore, much of the PTO funds go to supporting staff so that each child is met as an individual and receives instruction in small groups many times a day. Funding also supports the classroom with funds needed to keep up with the fast pace of technology. Your child will interact with computers, document cameras, research tools and many other technological wonders everyday to help them achieve the goals set forth by 21st century learning.
Although financial support is key, what makes Sandburg stand out from the rest is our strong sense of community! We host a Family Fall Festival in October and an art show in the spring to allow families to come together and celebrate. Many activities are provided for the students through volunteer efforts, from field day to the ropes course to an author visit. So many parents are willing and generous with their time volunteering. Depending on your schedule you can help with quick, onetime events, be a room parent, help on a weekly basis in the classroom, take care of sick ones in the clinic, work from home on your computer or serve on the PTO board.
As you can see, your Sandburg PTO provides so much and strives to include every family in providing an unforgettable education for each and every one of our children. Volunteer and support your PTO today!
Sincerely,
Carrie Warren-Gully
